Information for Artists
Exhibiting Artists
If you have any questions about setting up your show you may find the answers here.
- Installations will take place on the Sunday before your show opens, and de-installations will take place on the last Saturday.
- The Commons is open from 12 pm to 6pm on Sunday and 10 pm to 6 pm on Saturday. Please remember that someone is moving in the day after you move out and be prompt and thorough in your de-installation.
- It is your responsibility to leave the gallery in as good as or better condition then when you moved in (i.e. spackle, prime and paint over screw holes).
- You must provide all installation supplies. The SAS can provide several pedestals (we have several) upon request. Additional pedestals will have to be provided by the student. Video media (if necessary) must be provided by the artist. It is also the responsibility of the artist to turn on and off anything that needs to be started each morning and evening.
- The small, medium, and tall ladders, access to the front and back galleries, and access to the supply closet (rm 218) can be gained by asking someone working at the Commons information desk. The closet also contains pedestals and supplies for de-installation including, joint compound, brushes, and paint.
- Please keep your audience (the general public of all ages that passes through the University Student Commons) in mind when choosing work for display. Talk to us if you have any questions; we’ll try to work something out so that everyone is happy.
- Advertising for your show is your responsibility, and you can choose when you would like to have your reception. You should feel free to have food and music, and we can have the Commons provide a table if you would like one.
